Okay, so I fail at remembering to upload photos. But look at some shinies!
We had a fab time at our annual Halloween party. Some excellent costumes were brought out and we ended up with not one, not two but three Bellatrix Lestranges. Good times, people, good times.
The winner of our costume competition – for the second year in the row, no less – was Daimonde with her fabulous Fawkes costume. Congratulations!
Read on to see some of our awesome photos.

Did you all enjoy our first social? We hope so!
Want to relive seeing the committee sing the Mysterious Ticking Noise? Of course you do.
Enjoy.
So the Freshers’ Fayre occurred today, with many new members showing up to type in their details and walk away with the knowledge that they’d just joined something fantabulous.
There were sandwich boards, sweets, bubbles, and a few photos.
The end of the academic year gave us a chance to kick back for a glitzy awards night that we don’t have to plan. Lovely. Thanks to the SU exec for hosting a great night.
This year we were short-listed for the Best Webpage, which was a great follow-up to last year’s shortlisting for Most Imaginative Activity. HP Soc was also awarded a bronze StARs award.
What’s the point in looking normal? Wizards don’t exactly get it right when they dress as Muggles (take the Quidditch World Cup as a prime example). So we Muggles went out as wizards dressed as Muggles with some very interesting results.
The Horcrux Hunt is becoming an annual event. But it’s not as scary as it sounds! This is one of our pub crawls with a difference; 2007’s Horcrux Hunt was short-listed for the Most Imaginative Event at the Students’ Union Societies Awards.
Surprisingly, drinking isn’t the main purpose of this pub crawl. Instead, there’s a series of daft challenges designed to get everyone involved – and win some house points in the meantime.
It becomes obvious as I upload photographs from the 2008/9 year that perhaps an explanation of Sarah Doll is needed for anyone who finds themselves wondering why we carried along a doll to most of our socials.
As part of her course (Occupational Therapy, for those who want to know), our 2008/9 President, Sarah, had to spend most of the first semester in Barnstaple on placement. Of course, we couldn’t bear the thought of being without her for so long – or the idea of Sarah missing so many socials – and thus Sarah Doll was born. Our flexible plastic friend joined us for many a pub crawl and quiz, also providing plenty of photo opportunities.
Somehow, though, she did all this in a pink swimsuit and high heels. Yes, even in Cardiff weather! Sarah Doll splashed out and had a custom-made gown for the Yule Ball in December. She’s a sensible sort of doll, you see, and knew that swimwear was inappropriate for such a formal occasion.
Luckily, the real Sarah rejoined us in January. Thank Merlin – she’s much more cuddly than Sarah Doll.
