Societies Awards 2009

Fun times!

The end of the academic year gave us a chance to kick back for a glitzy awards night that we don’t have to plan. Lovely. Thanks to the SU exec for hosting a great night.

This year we were short-listed for the Best Webpage, which was a great follow-up to last year’s shortlisting for Most [...]

Wizards as Muggles!

Carley

What’s the point in looking normal? Wizards don’t exactly get it right when they dress as Muggles (take the Quidditch World Cup as a prime example). So we Muggles went out as wizards dressed as Muggles with some very interesting results.

Yule Ball 2008

Woo!

This was our third Yule Ball, this time hosted in conjunction with the Cardiff University Pagan Society at the Marriott Hotel. We also added a masquerade theme for a little extra glitz.

Horcrux Hunt

Carley shows off her Horcrux ring

The Horcrux Hunt is becoming an annual event. But it’s not as scary as it sounds! This is one of our pub crawls with a difference; 2007′s Horcrux Hunt was short-listed for the Most Imaginative Event at the Students’ Union Societies Awards.

Surprisingly, drinking isn’t the main purpose of this pub crawl. Instead, there’s a [...]

Sarah Doll

Sarah Doll in all her finery

As part of her course (Occupational Therapy, for those who want to know), our 2008/9 President, Sarah, [...]

Halloween 2008

Rowena Ravenclaw poses with a dishevelled Umbridge

If there’s one time of year when we get to geek out properly and dress up, it’s Halloween.

Pub Quidditch

Some Hufflepuffs and Slytherins

Pub Quidditch. Also known as party tricks and pub crawling with house points on offer.

Freshers’ Fling 2008

Ravenclaw gets into the spirit

Every year we like to welcome the society with an action-packed first social. For the first time in ever, in 2008 we also had the Sorting during the Freshers’ Fling. And, yes, there was some arts and crafts involves.

Freshers’ Fayre 2008

Who could turn down a witch like this?

Every year we love getting ready to welcome more freshers into the fold. Whether you’re new to the uni or just fancy trying another society, committee members are on hand to answer questions.
