Yule Ball Countdown!

by Alex on November 15th, 2009

So you’ll all be pleased to hear that the ball has been paid off and we are now on our official 2 week count down until the event itself! I hope you’ve all written down the date in your diary but just as a reminder, here are the details:

Date: Friday 27th November.
Start time: 7pm. Bucks Fizz reception in the bar.
8pm. Dinner served. Followed by disco and all manner of good times.
Finishing time: 1am.

For the next order of business, I just need to double check that there are no relevant allergies among you? Or any vegetarians? Please let me know asap.

Finally I think, and most importantly, menu choices. Here is a list of the food options:

Main Course
Option 1: Roast Glamorgan turkey with post sausage bacon roll, sage and onion stuffing and rich gravy.
Option 2: Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding with port gravy.
Option 3: Leek and gruyere crown (V): a puff pastry parcel filled with sautéed leeks and creamy melted gruyere cheese.

Help yourself to chefs selection of seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes.

Dessert
Option 1: Traditional Christmas pudding served with brandy sauce.
Option 2: Profiteroles with chocolate sauce.

I need you to tell me before the 20th of November, which option you would prefer. If I do not hear back from you, then I will assume you want the first option of each and mark them down. If you want them anyway, PLEASE STILL REPLY TO THE EMAIL. You have no idea how frustrating it is to e-mail and not get any reply. Another things is, I have been given a wine list which is available for pre-ordering with 10% off. The bottles of wine range from £14.95 and £18.95 and if you would like more information on them, please let me know and I’ll send you a copy of the list. Again though, I’ll need this information before the 20th of November. If you are one of the people who has bought a ticket for a guest, please inform me about their dietary needs too.

For now, I think that is everything. Thanks very much and hope everyone is fabulous. :D
Love Alex

Halloween 2009

by Tasha on November 5th, 2009

We had a fab time at our annual Halloween party. Some excellent costumes were brought out and we ended up with not one, not two but three Bellatrix Lestranges. Good times, people, good times.

The winner of our costume competition – for the second year in the row, no less – was Daimonde with her fabulous Fawkes costume. Congratulations!

Read on to see some of our awesome photos.

Yule Ball Tickets

by Alex on November 4th, 2009

Harry, Danielle, Myranda, Emily and KatTo All Fellow Potterites!

Next week will be your last chance to get a Yule Ball ticket! PLEASE, PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE COME. WITH CHERRY ON TOP?

Just in case some of you need a reminder, it’s on the 27th of November starting at 7pm and ending at 1am. There will be a carvery dinner with a choice of turkey or beef (or the veggie option, obviously) with a
selection of vegetables. There will be music, party favours and (hopefully) a chocolate fountain. Basically it’s gonna be a completely fantabulous evening!

If you’re suddenly thinking: “Damn, I meant to get my ticket already and I have a sudden urge to give Alex £30 immediately!” then contact me on Facebook or my mobile number (details are in the latest email that were sent out). If you wanna come but have the patience to wait then come along Tuesday at 33 Windsor Place and you shall have my eternal devotion. If, on the other hand, you just want a proper belly laugh then come along and see me start to beg people for money.

So please come along Tuesday and buy a ticket, you really won’t regret it!

Love, Alex.

Quiz Night

by Oz on November 1st, 2009

Hey chaps!

This week’s meeting is a pretty simple one – we’re going to be having another quiz at 33 Windsor Place, starting at half seven as usual.

Come and represent your house. Because currently there is a certain disparity in the points – one house is trailing by what I’m assured is a fair hundred points. I don’t believe it. Given that it’s Hufflepuff behind, and a Slytherin keeping track of the points.

Not that I’m encouraging inter-house rivalry. But come and get more points for Hufflepuff. Even if you’re in Gryffindor.

Come and have fun!

Tuesday will also be another chance to say that you want to come to the Yule Ball. Rather than Alex, though, speak to our gorgeous Quiz Master Emma if you’re still interested. Or, even better, have the money.

Cabaret Evening with Serenity Female Voice Choir

by Tasha on October 25th, 2009

We like to support our members in their various endeavours, so expect a few adverts for various things over the year for things such as Act One shows.

First up, though, Kat is a member of a female voice choir – just ask the committee for glowing reviews of their last concert.  If anyone fancies going to the Serenity caberet evening (I hear there’s going to be a piano duet of Hedwigs Theme) tickets are available online.

Come and enjoy a glass of wine as you listen to Serenity Female Voice Choir perform a selection of showtunes, pop classics, motown and Disney!

Tickets are £5 (concessions £4) and can be bought at www.ticketsource.co.uk/serenitychoir – they are selling fast and there are only a limited amount left so book them soon! Tickets will NOT be available on the door.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. See you there!

Halloween Party!

by Oz on October 25th, 2009

Happy Halloween, chaps!

I know, it’s not Halloween until next Saturday, but obviously this week is the week in which every society expects you to dress up and come along for fun and frolics. And we’re no exception.

So, this Tuesday, we’ll be in Koko Gorillaz in the heart of Cathays. I do believe we went there on our wonderful pub crawl recently, if I recall correctly. There’ll be decorations. And games. Oh yes.

Come along at half seven, all dressed up, and have fun! (I’m still holding out hopes one certain person comes along in a basilisk costume. Because that’ll look fantastic.)

PS You’ll also be able to buy ball tickets at the Halloween party. Chocolate fountain! Dancing! Profiteroles! What more do you need in the run up to Christmas?

by Tasha on October 3rd, 2009

Did you all enjoy our first social? We hope so!

Want to relive seeing the committee sing the Mysterious Ticking Noise? Of course you do.

Enjoy.

Fresher’s Fayre 2009

by Oz on September 23rd, 2009

So the Freshers’ Fayre occurred today, with many new members showing up to type in their details and walk away with the knowledge that they’d just joined something fantabulous.

There were sandwich boards, sweets, bubbles, and a few photos.
