Hope you’ve all been studying, because next on the Harry Potter Society schedule is a quiz night! (Tuesday 12th October, Bar 33, 7.30pm) Rose, Head of Hufflepuff, also doubles as our new quiz master and we can’t wait to see what she’s put together for her first quiz. Come along and help earn your house some points. The battle for the House Cup starts here! You can RSVP at our Facebook event if you’re so inclined. If you missed us at the societies fayre, never fear! You are still able to join via the modern marvel that is the internet. Simply pop along to groups.cardiffstudents.com, find us online and you can sign up on there. Your first step is to join the Guild of Societies (conveniently listed right above us on the societies listing), then join the Harry Potter Society for just a bargain-tastic £4 for the whole year. Are you an alumn? Have you already graduated? Never fear! You can also sign up online, too. Isn’t that nice to know? If you need any help or pointers, just let Natasha know. Feedback is win. Better late than never when it comes to putting up these photos! Our third task trip to Longleat in Wiltshire was a great success – frantic maze-running, picnics and exploring the gorgeous grounds. Finding the centre of the maze was a hard-fought challenge, but in the end it was Hufflepuff victorious, while Slytherin eventually (about a hundred years later, or so it seemed) made it to the end. So congratulations to Hufflepuff on their Triwizard Tournament victory. Better luck next year, everyone! Next Wednesday is going to be our final event of this academic year – we’re off to Longleat for the third and final part of the Triwizard Tournament. In case you missed the announcement, the Triwizard Tournament earned us Runner-Up Most Imaginative Event at this year’s Societies Awards, so obviously you’d be mad to miss out on this. If you’re coming on Wednesday, we will be meeting outside Central Station at 10am so we can catch the train. (Breakfast beforehand at the Prince of Wales or something is also a possibility, too!) If you’re coming, please respond to the email I’ve sent with your name and mobile number so we have everyone’s contact details. Don’t want to be losing anyone while we’re out and about. We’re planning on bringing food for a picnic, you’ll need money for taxis between the station and Longleat and please take the lovely British weather into account when deciding what to wear! But you’re all big boys and girls, so I probably don’t need to tell you that. See you soon! The committee is delighted to announce that at yesterday’s Societies Awards 2009-10 we not only won runner-up Most Imaginative Event for the Triwizard Tournament, but we also won Best Webpage. Thank you to everyone in the society for making this such a fantastic year for us. Here’s to hoping next year is even better. We’ll be bringing the trophies along to the end of year meal on Tuesday so we can all enjoy them for a bit. We are here at the 2010 Societies Awards. To our delight, we have been shortlisted for both Best Webpage and Most Imaginative Event (The Triwizard Tournament). Thank you to everyone who made this year so great.
